Day 1
Depart from Home An overnight flight transports you to a country of stunning natural beauty and inspiring history. Day 2 Edinburgh, Scotland - Tour Begins Today you arrive in the capital city of Edinburgh. Use your free time to explore the museums, shop for a kilt, or strike up conversations with the locals to hear stories told in their distinctive brogue. Day 3 Edinburgh This morning, during a locally-guided tour of the regal city of Edinburgh, enjoy a visit to the Palace of Holyroodhouse*, the Queen''s official residence in Edinburgh and the former home of Mary, Queen of Scots. Day 4 Edinburgh - Lake District, England - Wales Your final stop in Scotland is at the border town of Gretna Green where generations of runaway couples came to be married. Here you will discover what it means to be married “over an anvil.” Day 5 Wales - Stratford-Upon-Avon, England Start your day with a visit to the charming Welsh village of Llangollen, situated along one of the most sacred Celtic river in Western Europe, the River Dee, and known for its steam railway and colorful horse-drawn boats on the Llangollen Canal. Next, journey to Stratford-Upon-Avon, the home town of William Shakespeare, England’s most famous playwright. Day 6 Stratford-Upon-Avon - London This morning, travel to the magnificent capital city of London where you will enjoy a locally-guided sightseeing tour. Highlights include Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and Kensington Palace. The balance of the day is at leisure. You may plan to shop on famous Oxford Street or perhaps visit Covent Garden, famous for its street performers, restaurants and the Royal Opera House. Day 7 London Today, embark on a leisurely cruise along the historic Thames River. Next, visit the Tower of London, a UNESCO World Heritage site. See the Traitors’ Gate, the Bloody Tower and the Block where two of Henry the VIII’s wives - Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard - lost their heads. Then, behold the famed and elegant Crown Jewels. Next, partake in the very British custom of an elegant afternoon tea with all the traditional British fare. London has one of the best live theatre scenes in the world. Day 8 London - Tour Ends Your familiarization tour through Scotland, Wales and England ends today.
Enjoy three thrilling overnights each in the world-renowned cities of Edinburgh and London. Cruise the entire length of picturesque Lake Windermere*. Relax in the serene beauty of the sprawling Portal Championship Golf Resort and Spa. Visit London’s trendy Ice Bar. Revel in the experience of an overnight stay on the grounds of a splendid British Manor. Your introduction to this picturesque region begins with a cooking demonstration featuring regional Cumbrian cuisine followed by a buffet luncheon where you will sample some of the local dishes. Visit to the London Ice Bar. Mystery tour of London. Travel the Romantic Road, a scenic route that leads through river valleys, country towns and villages of honey-colored stone, complete with manor houses, churches and traditional pubs. A visit is included to one of the charming Cotswold villages. Due to itierary scheduling, arrival flights should arrive prior to 5:00 p.m. On your last day, due to flight schedules, you may require an early morning departure from your hotel. Return flights should not be booked prior to 11:30 a.m.
The Palace of Holyroodhouse may be closed when the Queen is in residence or for official state functions. Passengers overnighting in Edinburgh between August 1-23, 2008 will be provided with tickets to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo Show. The cruise along the southern shores of Lake Windermere is not included during the months of March and November. Single accommodations are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis. If you have not purchased air throught the tour company and wish to purchase transfers at a pre-scheduled time. Air passengers that have booked with the tour company will arrive in Edinburgh airport and depart from the London airport. On day 13, all transfer from the tour operator will depart from Warwickshire for the London airport. |
