Day 1
Overnight Flight Sicily, the largest of the Mediterranean Islands, offers a wonderful climate, spectacular landscapes, historic towns, charming hilltop villages, and some of the finest archaeological sites in Europe. Your journey begins with an overnight flight to Sicily. Day 2 Palermo, Sicily - Tour Begins Your familiarization tour begins in Palermo, Sicily. This evening, join your fellow travelers for a special welcome dinner at a popular local restaurant. Day 3 Palermo - Monreale - Agrigento A Palermo cultural tour features the lovely squares of Quattro Canti, Piazza Pretoria and Piazza Bellini. Note the exotic mixture of Moorish, Norman and Spanish Baroque styles that make this city special. You also see the Palace of the Normans, La Martorana Church, and the Cathedral, which houses the Imperial Crown of Constance of Aragon in its treasury. In the nearby town of Monreale, visit the 12th century Cathedral with its dazzling interior of multicolored marbles, paintings, mosaics and cloisters. Your travels continue to the western coastal city of Agrigento, your home for the next two nights. Day 4 Agrigento Visit the stunning Valley of the Temples, one of the most important archeological sites in the world and a UNESCO world-heritage site. From ancient times to the present day, the Valley of the Temples’ ruins, landscape flora and colors have inspired poets, writers and painters. Here, get an up-close view of the temples of Hercules, June, Dioscuris, Vulcan and Olympian Zeus. Day 5 Agrigento - Piazza Armerina - Giardini-Naxos Depart Agrigento today and travel to the central part of Sicily to the town of Piazza Armerina. Here you pay homage to the Roman past at the Villa Casale which houses one of the most incredible collections of ancient mosaics in the world. Later, visit Mt. Etna Volcano National Park to see the spectacular landscapes sculpted by nature. Arrive in Giardini-Naxos, the “garden of Sicily”, and your home for the next three nights. Day 6 Giardini-Naxos - Siracusa - Giardini-Naxos Walk in the footsteps of history and reflect on the grandeur of ancient Greece during an excursion to Siracusa. The city boasts as fine a collection of archaeological treasures as any island in Greece. A local expert guides you through the Archaeological Park, featuring an impressive collection of Greek and Roman antiquities. Enjoy some free time in the historic old city before returning to Giardini-Naxos. Day 7 Giardini-Naxos - Taormina - Giardini-Naxos This morning you tour beautiful Taormina, known for its charming atmosphere, significant monuments and flowering gardens. While in Taormina, visit the bountiful Public Gardens, enjoy a stroll along Corso Umberto, and admire the spectacular views of the bay. The rest of the day is at leisure to further explore this delightful town. Day 8 Giardini Naxos - Catania - Tour Ends Your tour ends today in Catania.

Due to flight schedules, you may require an early morning departure from the hotel on the last day of your tour. Single accommodations are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis. Itineraries include many activities and may consist of walking on uneven terrain, heavy walking on uneven terrain or heavy walking at times. Some of the most unique sightseeing can mean accessing locations that restrict motorcoaches, especially in historic areas. For your comfort, we recommend bringing walking shoes. If you have not purchased air through the tour operator and wish to purchase transfers, you must transfer at our pre-scheduled times. Air passengers will arrive and depart from the Catania, Sicily airport and all transfers will depart from/return to that airport. *The option to Catania is not available on Sundays. If day 5 falls on a Sunday, this option will instead be offered on day 8. Included Breakfasts are Buffet Breakfasts. |
